Euan Burton

Award winning bassist and composer, Euan Burton has been a lynchpin figure on the Scottish music scene for nearly a decade. He has built an international reputation touring and recording with many jazz heavyweights such as US stars Ari Hoenig, Jonathan Kreisberg and Gilad Hekselman as well as leading musicians from folk, pop and rock genres.

His playing boasts a beautiful touch and warm tone, a measured assurance in his improvisations, and a solid foundation when in support mode. At home in a variety of styles of music, he has also appeared on a huge range of albums including those of Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, pop band Texas, Callum and Rory MacDonald, Nuala Kennedy and Tom Gibbs to name but a few.

As a composer, Burton marries a wonderful blend of heart and mind, providing playful yet tricksy structures. He was recently named winner of the Scottish Jazz Award for Emerging Artist/Rising Star, and his recent release 'Occurrences' been critically acclaimed. He can be currently heard touring with his own quartet as well as with groups Salt House, Fiona Hunter Band and Rua Macmillan Big Band.
