Angus Lyon


Pianist and accordion player Angus Lyon is renowned as one of the Scottish music scene's most creative talents, in demand as a musician, composer, and producer.

As a member of the critically acclaimed band The Halton Quartet, and in an award winning duo with Ruairidh Campbell, Angus is famous for his intricate arrangements and stirring performances. He also plays with Bella Hardy & The Midnight Watch, and in 2012 joined one of Scotland’s best known bands Blazin' Fiddles. Angus has also performed with some of the biggest names in the music world including Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Paul McCartney, Bobby McFerrin & Scott Mathews.

In 2007, Angus recorded and produced '18 Months Later' with Ruaridh Campbell which sparked an interest in recording, this then lead to the creation of his own recording studio, Gran’s House. Over the years the studio has built up its reputation and has had many of the country's best known bands record there including; Blazin' Fiddles, Breabach, The Treacherous Orchestra, Fribo, Daimh, and Wingin' It.

In 2011 Angus was commissioned to write a new piece of music for the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. The piece entitled '3G' was later recorded and performed again at the 2013 festival and will be touring the UK in 2014.
