Alan Emslie is a Scottish percussionist with a unique portfolio. The majority of Alan's work takes him throughout Europe playing timpani with period instrument orchestras including Le Concert d'Astree, Arcangelo, The Dunedin Consort, De Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht & The Academy of Ancient Music. He has toured extensively worldwide performing at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York as well as numerous concert venues across the America, Canada, China, Japan & Scandinavia.

Alan is the man behind the dark industrial metal project Plastic Noose with which he has released two albums 'Zu Allen' in 2011 & 'Fractured Despondency' in 2013 both of which received widespread critical acclaim. Since 2011 Alan has been the co-producer, drummer & percussionist with the progressive jazz rock group The John Irvine Band again releasing two albums 'Wait & See' and 'Next Stop' in 2011 & 2013 respectively.

Alan is a published composer, he records & produces a wide range of music (his own, others', and live classical music) and has filmed & recorded for BBC television, including the series The Genius of Mozart, The Birth of British Music & The Genius of Beethoven. Alan endorses Sabian cymbals exclusively.
